  • ​This job is a member of the Finance Team within the Finance Division.
  • ​Responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive strategic programs which meet the needs of the internal stakeholders while addressing pricing, acquisition, total cost, lead-time, and supply.
  • Provide Purchasing and Supply Chain Support to the Customer Experience team, managing sourcing and supplier management for onboard amenities and soft goods products

What you'll do

  • Represents the company in business transactions with both internal and external organizations
  • Creates, negotiates, implements, and manages long term purchase agreements while effectively developing and promoting strategic partnerships with suppliers
  • Works closely with internal American Airlines customers and stakeholders to understand their business needs, objectives, product/service requirements and the broader operational processes
  • Measures and tracks supplier performance for the commodity; resolve and/or escalates issues in a timely fashion
  • Effectively communicates with appropriate management levels both internally and externally
  • Identifies opportunities for improvement and makes constructive suggestions for change
  • Maintains and troubleshoots the Quick Buy online sourcing tool
  • Manages the implementation of a new Source to pay online platform, working with outside platform vendor and implementation provider as well as internal stakeholders including IT, Accounts Payable and the Corporate Purchasing Team
  • Works with the Signature Approval Routing System (SARS), ensures any changes are made in a timely manner
  • Assists with the creation and implementation of a Supplier Relationship Management program for the Corporate Purchasing Team
  • Helps to expand the Supplier Risk Analyses process
  • Assists with the Training program for the Procurement & Supply Chain team, as necessary
  • Assists with the Supplier Diversity program, as necessary

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • ​Bachelor's degree in relevant field or equivalent experience/training
  • 3 years related work experience

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • ​Procurement and Supply Chain
  • Knowledge of Source to Pay systems
  • Strong project management skills
  • Understanding of Information Technology (IT)
  • Process Mapping abilities
  • Supplier Risk Analysis
  • Vendor Relationship Management

  • Skilled in Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • ​A potential team leader with strong communication skills
  • Understanding of supply chain concepts, with work experience applying those concepts
  • Negotiating and influencing skills
  • Self-directed and resourceful with the ability to handle multiple, simultaneous tasks with exhibited follow through and initiative
  • Business understanding, particularly in project management, early supplier involvement, total cost management and financial analysis
  • Understanding and use of technical tools for analysis, problem solving, forecasting and quality improvement
  • Previous experience with Source to Pay systems
  • SAP/Ariba knowledge
  • Proficient in Excel
  • High ethical standard
  • Lean Six Sigma
