Legal Counsel at Oracle – UAE

Job Description:

• Reviewing/vetting/drafting of non-standard contracts
• Advising the various lines of business (License, Hardware, Support, Consulting, Cloud etc.) on legal and contractual matters, including the structuring of contracts and appropriate documents to be used
• Assisting the lines of business in negotiations with customers and partners (via email, phone and face-to-face meetings)
• Working closely with sales management to ensure appropriate prioritization of legal resource
• Working closely with the Deal Management group, including in connection with internal approvals, to ensure a smooth and efficient support to the lines of business and compliance with Oracle policies and procedures
• Localizing Oracle model standard agreements/clauses
• Responding to ad-hoc queries
• Identifying/analysing/evaluating risk in connection with business transactions, including in connection with internal approvals to assist approvers make decisions on an informed basis
• Assist in ensuring business transactions are in compliance with Oracle business practices, policies, procedures as well as local laws
• In collaboration with the EMEA Litigation group, managing disputes/litigation
• In collaboration with the EMEA C&E group (Compliance & Ethics), assisting with investigations and assessments re. compliance cases and matters
• Working with other country lawyers in EMEA in connection with cross-border deals and EMEA-wide initiatives and projects
• Engaging external lawyers and managing the provision of their services
• Providing training and updates to various lines of business and other functions
• Performing various other tasks as are relevant for/required by an in-house lawyer

Job Requirements:

         Education:

  •     Law degree; 5 years and above of relevant work experience

Technical Knowledge/ Skills/ Training required:

• Excellent oral and written communication, negotiation and presentation skills
• Creative thinking/problem solving orientation
• Business orientation (ability to balance legal considerations with commercial considerations)
• Ability to perform under pressure/in an often fast-paced environment
• Ability to work in an environment with multiple stakeholders and within a framework governed by corporate policies and business practices
• Ability to work independently and proactively on assigned tasks and responsibilities
• Interested in developing an understanding of Oracle´s products and services as well as Oracle’s business requirements and policies
